Almond Milk Latte with Vanilla Bean Maple Syrup
Ingredients:
- Vanilla Bean Maple Simple Syrup
- 1 vanilla bean
- 4 cardamom pods
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- Almond Milk Latte
- 3/4 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso
- 3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (you could use regular almond milk or sweetened as well)
- 2 Tablespoons vanilla bean maple syrup (or other syrup)
Instructions:
- Vanilla Bean Maple Simple Syrup:
- Cut the vanilla bean down the middle and scrape out the seeds.
- Crush the cardamom pods slightly with the back of a spoon.
- Combine the vanilla bean, vanilla seeds, cardamom pods, sugar, water and maple syrup in a medium saucepan.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently to ensure the sugar dissolves without burning.
- Continue cooking for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Strain the simple syrup to remove the vanilla bean and cardamom pods. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
- Almond milk latte:
- Heat the almond milk in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes.
- Froth the milk with a milk frother. If you don't have a milk frother, pour cold almond milk into a mason jar and seal. Shake as hard as you can for 30 seconds. Remove the lid and microwave for another 30 seconds.
- Pour the frothed almond milk over hot coffee or espresso. Stir in the syrup.
