Baked Cherry Apple Cider Doughnuts
Ingredients:
- Cherry Apple Cider Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 Tablespoons cherry apple cider (or just regular apple cider)
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon cloves
- Baked Cherry Apple Cider Doughnuts
- 1 cup flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- A pinch of salt
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger
- 3/4 cup cherry apple cider (or 1/2 cup apple cider and 1/4 cup cherry juice or pureed cherries)
- 1/4 cup applesauce (recipe here)
- 2 teaspoons canola oil
Instructions:
- Cherry Apple Cider Glaze:
- Combine all ingredients until smooth. Add cider or sugar to get to the consistency you want.
- Dip the doughnuts in the glaze and allow it to harden.
- Baked Cherry Apple Cider Doughnuts:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Combine all dry ingredients (flour through the ginger) in a large bowl.
- Add the apple cider, applesauce and canola oil. Use an electric hand mixer to combine until smooth (mine broke so I just used a wooden spoon).
- Pour the batter into a ziploc bag and cut one corner off. Use the ziploc to pipe the mixture into a doughnut pan that holds six doughnuts.
- Bake at 350 for 9 or 10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the doughnuts to cool completely before glazing.
