Campfire White Russian
Ingredients:
For the spiced simple syrup:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 3 whole cardamom pods
- 4-5 whole cloves
- 4-5 whole allspice
- 2 whole star anise
For the White Russian:
- 2 ounces vodka
- 1 ounce coffee liqueur
- ½ ounce spiced simple syrup
- 1 ounce heavy cream or coconut milk for vegan version
- Ice cubes
- Marshmallows or vegan marshmallows, cinnamon sticks and whole star anise, for garnish
Instructions:
For the spiced simple syrup:
- Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Slowly bring a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
- Remove from heat and add the spices. Let spices steep for 15 minutes. Strain and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
For the White Russian:
- Fill a glass with ice cubes and add the vodka, coffee liqueur and spiced simple syrup.
- Swirl the glass to stir the mixture. Pour over the heavy cream or coconut milk and swirl the glass again to mix.
- Garnish with cinnamon sticks, whole star anise and a toasted marshmallow to resemble a campfire.
