Garlic Cheese Buns
Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 packet rapid rise or active dry yeast*
- 2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 cups bread or all-purpose flour*
- 16 small cubes sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded colby jack cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- Garlic salt for topping
Instructions:
- Combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast in the bowl of a stand mixer and let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the garlic salt and olive oil and begin mixing on low. Add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a smooth dough forms. You will want to turn the mixer up to high and let it go for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Put the dough into a bowl coated with olive oil, cover, and let sit in a warm place for an hour to an hour and a half until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces. Place a cube of cheddar in the center of each and pinch the dough closed around it. Roll into a tight ball by pressing it into the counter with the palm of your hand and making tight circles.
- Mix together the shredded cheese. Sprinkle a small amount of the shredded cheese mixture for each roll on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place each roll on top.
- Brush each roll with the melted butter and sprinkle some garlic salt on the top of each. Mix together all of the shredded cheese and press a small handful onto each roll.
- Bake for 15-17 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
