Homemade Applesauce
Ingredients:
- 2-3 lbs apples (I used a mixture of granny smith and fuji apples)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Peel, core and chop up the apples into about 1-inch chunks. Place them in a large Dutch oven, cast iron pot or other type of oven-proof pot. Add the remaining ingredients and stir until combined.
- Cover, and bake in the oven for 1 hour (or until apples are soft). Remove from the oven and use a potato masher to make chunky applesauce. If you don't like chunky applesauce, just run it through a blender or food processor.
- Serve with a cinnamon stick!
