Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Cream together the butter, shortening, brown sugar and white sugar using a spoon or a mixer until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
  4. Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar, salt, nutmeg and cloves, mixing just until combined.
  5. Combine the remaining sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish for rolling.
  6. Roll the dough into 1 1/2 inch balls and roll in the cinnamon sugar before placing on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 9 minutes or until just lightly browned, and the tops are crinkled. Serve with hot chocolate!
