Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- Pinch of nutmeg
- Pinch of ground cloves
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Cream together the butter, shortening, brown sugar and white sugar using a spoon or a mixer until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
- Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar, salt, nutmeg and cloves, mixing just until combined.
- Combine the remaining sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish for rolling.
- Roll the dough into 1 1/2 inch balls and roll in the cinnamon sugar before placing on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake at 375 degrees F. for 9 minutes or until just lightly browned, and the tops are crinkled. Serve with hot chocolate!
