Maple Spiced Pears & Blackberries
Ingredients:
- 1 pear (cored and thinly sliced)
- 1/4 cup chopped (candied ginger (you could also just add 1/4 tsp ground ginger))
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 Tablespoon maple syrup
- 1/2 cup blackberries
Instructions:
- Place the pears in a single layer in a pan over medium-low heat.
- Add the candied ginger, spices and maple syrup and let the mixture heat until warmed through, just 2-3 minutes. You don't want the pears to get all mushy so you aren't actually cooking them, just warming them.
- Top your oatmeal, ice cream or whatever with the pear mixture. You can include the pieces of candied ginger or leave them out if you don't want that flavour to be too strong. Top with the fresh blackberries. Note that you can also add the blackberries to the pan if you want them to be warmed, but I liked the burst of flavour from the fresh, cool blackberries.
