Nutella Brownies

Instructions:

  1. Make the brownies. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease or line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, sugar, eggs, egg yolk and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add the cocoa powder, salt and flour, stirring just to combine. Don't worry about small streaks of flour leftover.
  4. Gently stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan. Add dollops of Nutella all around the top and then use a butter knife or toothpick to gently swirl it into the batter.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick or knife comes out with a few crumbs clinging to it.
  7. Make the frosting. While the brownies are cooling, make the frosting. Use a mixer with the whisk attachment or a hand mixer to beat the Nutella and butter together until smooth.
  8. Add the powdered sugar and salt and mix until smooth.
  9. Add the heavy cream, turn the mixer to high and whip for 3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  10. Spread frosting on top of cooled or slightly warm brownies and cut into squares to serve.
