Nutella Brownies
Ingredients:
For the brownies:
- 1 cup salted butter, melted
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup Nutella
For the Nutella frosting:
- 1/2 cup Nutella
- 1/3 cup salted butter, softened to room temperature
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions:
- Make the brownies. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease or line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, sugar, eggs, egg yolk and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Add the cocoa powder, salt and flour, stirring just to combine. Don't worry about small streaks of flour leftover.
- Gently stir in the chocolate chips.
- Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan. Add dollops of Nutella all around the top and then use a butter knife or toothpick to gently swirl it into the batter.
- Bake at 350 degrees F. for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick or knife comes out with a few crumbs clinging to it.
- Make the frosting. While the brownies are cooling, make the frosting. Use a mixer with the whisk attachment or a hand mixer to beat the Nutella and butter together until smooth.
- Add the powdered sugar and salt and mix until smooth.
- Add the heavy cream, turn the mixer to high and whip for 3 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Spread frosting on top of cooled or slightly warm brownies and cut into squares to serve.
